From Engineering to Design
Why I chose UX:
Originally from Iran, I chose to study Chemical Engineering with the goal of becoming a researcher and making an impact, no matter how small, on the world. However, as I wasn’t getting what I hoped for in Iran and most of the courses were highly theoretical, I decided to move to Canada to pursue my dream of entering the research field. During this time, I started an Instagram and YouTube channel to share my immigration journey. This experience unlocked something in me: I loved connecting with people, understanding their challenges, and creating content to help solve their problems. It was then that I realized I wanted a career where I could observe real-world problems and design meaningful solutions. That’s when I discovered the world of UX/UI.

What parts of UX/UI excite me most:
When it comes to the different steps of the UX process, I find excitement and value in being involved in all stages. As a UX/UI designer, I believe that each phase contributes uniquely to the overall success of a project. Whether it's conducting user research to uncover insights, crafting intuitive wireframes and prototypes, collaborating closely with developers to ensure seamless implementation, or testing and refining the final product, every step offers its own set of challenges and opportunities.

My approach to work:
I approach design as a collaborative and iterative process grounded in empathy and clarity. I start by understanding users before proposing solutions, and I work closely with product, engineering, and stakeholders to align decisions and move work forward. I see feedback, testing, and iteration as essential parts of the design process, not final steps. For me, every project is an opportunity to learn, refine, and deliver work that is thoughtful, practical, and ready for real-world use.

What I enjoy outside of design:
Playing the piano, a love I’ve nurtured for 12 years. Exploring clay art, my escape from the world’s chaos, where I create with my hands. Traveling, and collecting mugs from every destination (no camping, though, I learned that the hard way). At the gym or on a yoga mat, I try my best to keep moving! Most importantly, being a proud cat mom to Yogi, who immigrated to Canada with me.
